Wirral based NMABs IV Clinic situated in Fender Way Health Centre.
A new service being rolled out across the country. The aim is to provide the administration of sotrovimab IV Infusion for vulnerable, non-hospitalised patients who have been PCR tested and confirmed to have covid-19.
The aim of the treatment is to prevent likelihood of hospitalization due to covid-19 symptoms. The following criteria determines whether patients are to be considered at high risk of admission following positive PCR result:
If you have positive PCR test result and meet any one of the above criteria, you would be deemed eligible for Sotrovimab treatment.
Sotrovimab treatment is only recommended if given to the patient within 5 days of symptom onset or positive PCR result. If patient is on day 6 or 7 of symptoms, then they can still receive treatment however this will need to be prescribed off license and will need to therefore be reviewed by the prescriber.

In instances where it has not been possible to cannulate the patient – there is an alternative oral treatment which can be prescribed; however, this is not as effective as the intravenous treatment and is contraindicated for some patients depending on their under lying condition and the medications they already take
